Isles Woes Continue As They Fall 3-1 To Ottawa

Tonight, our Islanders fell to the Senators by a score of 3-1.  Here are some of my notes:

-Contrary to what some are saying, Dipietro didn't have a bad game.  The third goal he let up was just awful, but outside of that he wasn't bad.  All be it, he wasn't tested much so he really didn't have the chance to be bad.

-Our powerplay struggles continue, we must have one of the streakiest powerplays in the NHL.

-Defense has to get out of the zone better.  They get trapped in their zone to much, and they don't do a good enough job of clearing the crease.  On the penalty kill especially when clearing the crease is so vital!

-Kyle Okposo needs to be benched!  Yes, he did get a point today.  However, his trying to hard and just down right stupidity put the Islanders on the penalty kill twice.  Why Ullstrom sits over him doesn't make sense.

-Hopefully, tonights game was enough of a showcase for Reasoner to be moved (waived or traded) because the sooner we don't see him in the lineup anymore the better.

-Good for Hamonic & Tavares showing emotion.  During the postgame, many people were using the fact that Craig Anderson is on fire to excuse the loss.  Not Hamonic, who said "running into a hot goaltender is an easy excuse at this point."  If statements like this don't show Hamonic future as at least an assistant captain on this team, I don't know what does.

Well, after yesterdays game, there wasn't a very optimistic outlook on the game tonight.  That was compounded when it was announced that Dipietro would be starting tonight.  After Montreals win tonight against the Rangers they should be flying on Thursday so it isn't like it will get easier for the Islanders.

Next Game: Thursday Night @ Montreal
