Islanders In On Bernier?

Update: According to Newsday, after the recent news of the Flyers keeping Ilya Bryzgalov for next season that likely takes them out of the running for Bernier.  Speculation then followed by Newsday that with the exit of the Flyers it would leave the Islanders and Leafs as the front runners for the young goalie.

According to Newsday, the Islanders are one of the up to 10 teams in on Kings backup goalie and RFA Jonathan Bernier.

In 14 games last season Bernier was 9-3 with a 1.88 GAA and .922 save percentage.

While I think an upgrade in goal is needed, I wouldn't be so fast to overpay for Bernier because he has never been a starting goalie before.  While he has all the potential in the world, giving up a package of say Nino and a first round pick would be a large price to pay for potential.
