Nassau Legislature Approves Coliseum Plan

According to Newsday, within the last hour the Nassau County Legislature voted to unanimously approve Bruce Ratner's plan to develop the Nassau Coliseum and some of the surrounding property.

While this is certainly a pretty big step for the project, it isn't the last one it will face.  For more on that check out the Newsday article below published in yesterdays issue.

While this is encouraging, as the article says there are still many things that can bring this project to a screeching halt.  However, if all goes well, Ed Mangano said today that construction is expected to begin in August 2015 after the Islanders leave and the new arena would open in 2016.
