Islanders Recall Anders Nilsson/Sound Tigers Recall Milner

After putting Evgeni Nabokov on IR, the Islanders called up Anders Nilsson from Bridgeport to serve as the teams backup goalie.

In 11 games for Bridgeport this year, Nilsson has a 3.57 GAA and a .880 save percentage.  From what I have read from Bridgeport fans though is that is numbers aren't necessarily indicative of his play.  The Sound Tigers have a lot of first year players on their roster which has caused the team to struggle and his numbers to suffer.

If Nabokov is truly out for a month or more I don't see how keeping Nilsson up here as Poulin's backup makes much sense.  Unless of course, the team's perception of Nilsson has changed that much that they would be willing to waste that development time for him just sitting him here on the bench.

Bridgeport Calls Up Milner

With Anders Nilsson being called up, Bridgeport had a void in net.  That void was filled when they called up Parker Milner from Stockton in the ECHL.  If you recall, they signed Milner to a contract over the summer.

In five games this year in the ECHL, Milner has a 3.22 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

Milner will presumably serve as the backup for goalie Ken Reiter in Bridgeport.  In five games for Bridgeport this year, Reiter has a 3.11 GAA and a .883 save percentage.
