Reports came out earlier today that forward Thomas Vanek would be returning to the Islanders lineup tomorrow night for their game against the Penguins. It should be interesting to see how Jack Capuano switches around the lines with Vanek coming back. To me, Brock Nelson should absolutely remain in the top 6 over Josh Bailey who has really struggled.
Vanek had missed the last 5 games while recovering from an upper body injury. In that time, the Islanders have gone 2-3.
Vanek has registered 3 points in 5 games since he was acquired by the Islanders on October 27th in exchange for Matt Moulson, a conditional 1st round pick, and a 2nd round pick next year.
