Islanders Reach Into College Ranks Signing Czuczman

Update 2: According to Newsday, Czuczman's deal is worth 2.7 million for the two years or 1.35 million per season.

Update: According to reports, Czuczman will join the team for their games this weekend and will not go to Bridgeport.  It is unclear if he will be in the lineup.

According to reports, earlier today it was announced that the Islanders had signed defenseman Kevin Czuczman out of Lake Superior State to a two year entry level contract.

Standing at 6'3 205 Czuczman isn't a stranger playing with an edge having amassed 73 penalty minutes this season.  He isn't only a physical player though as he has also put up 21 points during this season.

It is believed that Czuczman was among the top college free agents available so it appears as though this was a nice signing for the Islanders.
I'm not privy to the exact details of his contract but I would expect him to report to Bridgeport for the remainder of the season.  This appears to be a good signing for the team, a low risk potentially high reward if Czuczman is able to reach his potential.
