Isles Resign Boulton

In the aftermath of this afternoons 2-0 victory over the Jackets, the Islanders announced that they had resigned enforcer Eric Boulton to a 1 year extension.  Boulton was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

In 23 games for the Islanders this season Boulton registered 4 points and 88 penalty minutes.

Upon reading this, I was surprised because although he has been decent this year Boulton doesn't serve much of a purpose on the ice and that kind of player is a dying breed in this league.
