Hickey OT Goal Leads Isles Over Sens

Tonight, our Islanders defeated the Ottawa Senators in the front end of a back to back by a score of 3-2 in overtime.  Here are some of my notes:

-While Halak wasn't in the form we had become used to seeing from him, he gave us a chance to win which is all you can expect from the goalie.  Halak also tied Billy Smith's team record with his 10th straight win by a goalie.  This is a mark Smith set back in 1982.

-Great job by Nelson on the tying goal.

-The team did a good job getting to the front of the net tonight.  Their ability to do this resulted in the team getting two goals tonight, including the game winner.

-Even with the absences on defense, the team had a good game allowing few shots on net.

Even when they seem like they don't have their "A" game so to speak, this team still finds ways to win.  It is wins like this that are making fans think of what is capable of happening with this team in the best case scenarios.

Next Game: Thursday @ Ottawa
