Isles Comeback Again in Shootout Victory

Tonight, our Islanders defeated the rival Devils by a score of 3-2 in a shootout.  The Islanders mounted a come back victory again for the second consecutive game.  Here are some of my notes:

-While I am sure he would like to have the second goal back, Jaroslav Halak played a pretty good game tonight.  He gave the Islanders a chance to win which is all you can ask for from your goalie.

-How about Josh Bailey?  While he didn't have a great game, he did have his best game in about two months tonight.  The thing is, is this a sign of things to come?  Or is it just going to be a flash in the pan like it normally is with Bailey?

-I understand being frustrated, but a horrible job by Tavares taking a penalty late in the game like he did.  He has to be more disciplined then that.

-While they have had their struggles this year, the penalty kill came up big when it mattered tonight.

-Nice goal by Matt Martin tonight.  He really seemed to have an extra jump in his step in the third period, especially after that goal.

This was a game the Islanders had to win, especially with their tough weekend schedule looming.  While they might not have deserved the 2 points, they were able to gut it out and get them.  This game is another sign of the differences between this Islander team and teams of the past.

Next Game: Friday 7:30 @ Detroit
