Meet Tyler Kennedy

Earlier today, the Islanders announced that they acquired Tyler Kennedy from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a conditional draft pick.

The pick will be either the Islanders or Lightnings 7th round pick in this years draft.  Unless, the Islanders win the Stanley Cup and Kennedy plays in 50% of the games.  If that were to happen, then the Islanders owe the Sharks a 3rd round pick.

Kennedy has 9 points in 25 games this season for the Sharks.  While that doesn't exactly jump off the page he does have a track record of being a solid depth player and is familiar with the division from his time with the Penguins.  Additionally, he brings a lot of playoff experience with him as well.  Kennedy has participated in 76 playoff games in his career and has 27 points in that period of time.  He also comes with a Stanley Cup on his resume from his time with the Penguins.  You can never have enough people like that on your team, especially when your a team like the Islanders who while they have added some experience are still largely not as battle tested as some of the other eastern conference playoff teams.
