New Coliseum to Host College Basketball, Hockey

According to Brett Yormark, the University of Kentucky Mens Basketball team coached by John Calipari has agreed to play the first college basketball game at the renovated Nassau Coliseum in December, 2016.
It doesn't stop there though as the Barclays Center official site reports that the Coliseum will also host college basketball and college hockey tournaments tentatively scheduled in November and January of 2017 respectively.

This timeline is really optimistic in my opinion.  This means that construction will get underway right when the Islanders leave this summer and not face any obstacles or anything along the way.  That doesn't sound like the way this area conducts itself.  Unless of course Yormark and company know something that we all don't which is always possible.

While it is nice to have an attraction like a top NCAA basketball team coming to the area, am I the only one who will have trouble going to events at the renovated Coliseum?  While I would love to be able to enjoy all the amenities and such that would come along with the renovated arena, I can't help but think that I would be condoning and supporting the actions of the politicians that brought us to this point and the thought of doing that makes me sick to be honest.
